About melissa kalember

Melissa Kalember is a USEF R Judge, SAHJA Judge, USHJA Certified Trainer, and Certified Equine Massage Therapist and Reiki I Master.  Melissa is Co-Chair of the USHJA National Affiliate Committee and serves on the USHJA Regional Committee for Zone 10.

Melissa obtained her B.S. from UC Davis in Animal Science in 2007, specializing in Equine Science. Melissa furthers her education by attending clinics, taking lessons and judging shows. As an intuitive and diverse horse trainer, she is able to work with a wide range of equestrians. 

Melissa hasn't left the saddle since her riding days began at age 7. Drawing on her talent for handling tough ponies and her love of catch riding, Melissa's show career began in the pony ring, where she showed many green points for their owners throughout Northern Ca. After numerous championships in the pony ring, Melissa's career progressed into the hunter and jumper ring, where she showed horses through the various levels.

After developing her skills as an amateur rider, Melissa began her professional career under the guidance of USEF R judge Gardner Powell. She added many tools to her hand bag of information through her experience as an assistant trainer and barn manager.

On a daily bases Melissa is able to use her gifted eye and vast knowledge of the horse in her work as a teacher, rider, masseuse, Reiki master, communicator and judge.
